Meet Rebecca
Writer, reader, problem-solver, and employee of several cats.
Rebecca H. Kolowé writes stories about opinionated animals, complicated magic, and the unexpected ways we become who we were meant to be. Her current projects include Super Sasha and the Monster Under the Bed, an early chapter book inspired by her family’s exceptionally self-important cat, and an adult fantasy novel exploring prophecy, vocation, desire, and the cost of transformation.
The Story behind the Stories:
Rebecca has spent her life moving between practical responsibilities and imaginative worlds. She is a school operations leader, an ordained deacon, and a lifelong student of religion, folklore, and the stories people use to make meaning of their lives. She holds a master’s degree in Islamic Studies, speaks French, and has lived in Africa—an experience that continues to shape the way she thinks about belonging, calling, and home.
She currently lives in Maryland with her husband, their son, and a household of cats who remain convinced that she works for them. When she isn’t writing or solving real-world problems, Rebecca can usually be found planning the next family adventure, rearranging her mid-century home, or observing Sasha in hopes of discovering what the next book should be about.

Rebecca H. Kolowé writes children’s fiction and adult fantasy. Her early chapter-book manuscript, Super Sasha and the Monster Under the Bed, was inspired by her son and their remarkably opinionated cat, Sasha. Rebecca is a school operations leader and ordained deacon with a master’s degree in Islamic Studies. Her writing draws upon her interests in animals, folklore, religious vocation, and transformation. She lives in Maryland with her husband, son, and several highly-supervisory cats.
